We just re-chromed our 5 cockpit winches last winter with a local Detroit shop and they turned out well.   Cost was about $350 per winch.  I can dig up the name if you're interested.

They did a great job.
Classic car forums are good places to look (that's how I found these guys); classic car folks get bumpers and mirrors rechromed.

I had several winches re-chromed ten or twelve years ago at New England Chrome.

We did send our disreputable chrome pieces back to Italy for re-chrome. They came back looking good and still look good after 7 years in the windward islands. Worked with Siebe Noordzy with Marine Trading Inc. siebe@euromarinetrading.com

Have any of you had your Antal winches re-chromed?  I had it done in Turkey a few years ago, and they look awful again.  After 20 years, our Lewmar winches on the mast look brand new and the Antal winches look horrible.  We're back in the USA again (Chesapeake) and was wondering if it was worth getting it done.
