Hello All,

The yard pros advise me that in order to repack the packing gland on my boat (Hylas 49 with F/P mini 8), it would be best to haul out, disconnect the rubber hose that is attached to the boat AND the stuffing box, slide the whole assy up the shaft to where it is accessible and repack.

Moon light

Great idea

I can barely get a wrench on the adjustment screws because of hoses and the genset

This won't help you now, but when I had a genset put in our 49, I had them put it on a sliding tray that allows me to slide the genset into the aft berth giving me access to everything behind the engine.

Hello,

Has any one done this job (repacking prop shaft stuffing box) before in the water?  Access in this area (aft engine room bilge) on my H49 is very restricted by installed F/P genset
