Nirvana, the holding tank is forward of the bow thruster which is not the most convenient location but the inspection plate is removable as well as the hoses. As far as aesthetics, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. To me, it reinforces the feel that there is a pretty substantial bulkhead with a beefy watertight door. JR

That is one serious bulkhead port.  As our bulkhead is sheathed in teak I would want something a little less obtrusive but that does solve the access problem.
Is your forward holding talk still in there above the thruster?

Ripple:  Many thanks!  I love this solution.  I've already burned through 2 thruster motors.

Aldebr, the watertight hatch in our forward bulkhead provides pretty good access to the bow thruster. The overhead hatch was removed and sealed because water kept getting past the hatch and destroying the motor. JR 46/53

Neither does Solstice, our 46 #66, although I wish there was communication with the forward compartment to access the thruster.

There is no hole (nor alas thruster) in Nirvana.  I would have to suggest it is not original but you may want to consult QL on that as your hull is quite newer.

Our 46/53 has a drain plug in the forward wall of the forward shower pan. Was this standard issue? The hole extends through the bulkhead into the area between the bulkhead and thruster tube so maybe it is only needed if a thruster is installed. JR
