We have purchased replacement teak veneer panels direct from Queen Long all pre-finished and then have a carpenter remove the old and install the new. We discovered a leak in the SS fairlead at the end of the teak toe rail that discoloured the panel that you are referring to . Caulking doesn't last forever!

Wood rot around aft port salon

Our 1999 46 #25 had a large area of discolored veneer next to the aft port book shelf.
Once we dug into it we found a large portion of rotten core between the veneer and the port storage locker fiberglass.
It appears we will need to cut a large hole in the fiberglass locker in order to remove all of the rotten core in order to replace it.

Not sure yet where the water is coming from yet. Possible old damage that penetrated the fiberglass in the locker or the grommet that allows the water lines to enter the aft locker for the shower may have been the problem.

Anyone have experience with this issue?
Anyone know of a expert in repairing veneer and core in San Diego?
