Thank you everyone for your wonderful replies! I'll be reaching out to you via PM/email, sorry I'm tardy responding. Work has been very hectic recently for both myself and my wife. We're in the last hard push before making some significant lifestyle changes in preparation for moving into the cruising/liveaboard life.

Nirvana is a 97 46 wet in Connecticut. We would be happy to host you for a sail or visit.  She has had a lot of work done in refit, mod and upgrades in the last few years with some touch ups and one major repair due before we are satisfied but she sails like a dream and is well fit out.  Feel free to PM me if you are interested.

I have owned 2 different 46"s (long story) and chartered a 49 for a couple of weeks, and have a good friend that had a 49.  Both great boats. Either one is a go to boat.  If you find one that fits your needs, in good shape, without too many hours, then jump on it.  All Hylas's are in pretty high demand right now.  You may even think about splitting the difference, and ordering a new 48.  Just a thought.  Good Luck.

Two items:  46 is wet boat; when off pacific, rest is required.
49 is a dry, rocking horse - when off pacific your ready for dinner and celebration!  Also 49

You might reach out to the Hylas salesman in the U.S. for his perspective because he knows both models very well.  His description of the differences may make your choice easier.  He is Kevin Wensley, cell 239-738-8742.

Hi I own Manketti, a Hylas 49 she is an English finished boat, built in 2005 I can assure you having been in both a 46 and the 49 that they are not even remotely the same, the 49 has a fin and keg keel and rudder which gives a totally different feel at sea but does not give great close quarters manoeuvring but with luck you are sailing 1000s more hours that parking!!
also with the 49 even if its just two of you the extra space of the 49 will be a godsend + think you get an extra midship cabin.  I'm sure if you make contact with some owners in the US they would love to show off there beautiful yachts. unfortunately I'm trying to sell at present but if I fail and your in Europe you can always come and go sailing with Ann and I.

We are happy owners of a 2002 Hylas 46 that we bought in 2014. I would be pleased to share our experiences with the boat. We have logged about 10k miles and live aboard 6 months a year.

Greetings-

My wife and I have been boat shopping and have pretty much narrowed it down to either a Hylas 46 or 49. We are both pilots (aviation, not harbor) and can travel the US pretty easily. We are looking for a both a 46 and a 49 to visit just to see if there is anything that jumps out to us as
