It's a 1/4" fitting.

Matt, last year I replaced both Hitachi alternators with Balmar 100A and included their ARS-5 controllers.  This required extensive and complete new cable runs to support 100A ea., upgrading the isolators and bypassing the stock breakers to upgraded BlueSea 100A breakers as well.

It meant detailing the DC charging system to the Nth degree.

Point being there was no external control on the alternators as you describe save the breakers.  I know it

I'm back in the US. Matilda is in Mexico. I ordered a standard switch that is 1/8" and a bunch of adapters. I will post the answer to my question when I determine which is the right one. Heading back to Mexico in late February. BUT. I'm not really sure that the thing is necessary. I believe it's purpose is to keep the alternator from loading the engine and starter on start-up until the the oil pressure is up. My Balmar controller has a built-in delay of about 5 seconds before it starts to load the engine. Any thoughts?

Matt, same engine here.  Any chance you could post a pic of the sensor you are referring to?  Might help identify which one it is and where.

It looks like 1/4 NPT unless it is metric

Matt,

Welcome!  Which engine do you have (not that I will have the answer, but someone else might)

Oil Pressure Switch - Help

I am new to the forum. This is my first post. I need to replace the oil pressure switch that is connected to the alternator control circuit. It threads into a little manifold that also feeds the oil pressure send unit. Does anybody know the thread size for this?
