I think you'd be really pushing it. The 225 lifts about 500lb (225kg per pair of davits) max. At a minimum I would take the engine off the dinghy when offshore. You'd have an awful lot of weight to restrain at sea. My recommendation is to look for a lighter arrangement.

We have a series 300 and a standard inflatable and have had trouble with wires breaking due to chafing

We have Simpson Lawrence series 225 davits on our H-54.  I am thinking of replacing my current dinghy with a 10' AB either fibreglass or aluminum, 20 hp 4 stroke outboard, w/electric start and Eurohelm (St.Croix) steering station.  Has anyone had any experience with this setup?  We have been told that the total weight should be 400- 500 lb, which should not exceed the capacity of the davits.  Is that a true figure?  What about offshore with the dinghy on the davits?
