On board Ambition, as part of our migration to lithiums and reduce dependancy on the generator for air conditioning, we installed 2 Victron 3000w charger inverters. They are installed on their sides behind the U sofa back on the port side. It necessitated cutting an extra access panel to match, in the plywood back. Two were installed because one 5000w was physically too large and it also provides redundancy. They set up as a master and a slave.

I now have a Victron 3000W inverter-charger and it just fits under the center bin of the port side U-settee.  There is a vent in the bulkhead for air exchange and cooling.  I like the panel control - a simple toggle switch for charger / inverter, and a knob for amperage, that's all that's needed!

Where you can put it depends on the size/ output. I have on board True Brew H46#32 two inverters.
There is a 3500W charger inverter below the aft end port side U seat, and a 2000W inverter above and behind that seat back.
The former one required the original battery box removed and a smaller starter battery installed. The latter required a custom built sliding and pivoting frame to get it in behind the seat back.
I chose to install two smaller ones rather than one large one to avoid a space issue and overly large fuses/switch and cable cables. The smaller one is dedicated to an electric oven. Like Caregg I can get overheating under the seat when consuming a high inverter load from the larger one for any length of time and am in the process of adding grills and possibly fitting a temperature controlled fan.
In retrospect, I should have considered changing to 24vdc for house batteries and inverters to lessen the cable/fuse/switch size issues and installed a few 24/12vdc converters for redundancy to service the existing 12vdc loads.

In 2016 I put a Magnum MS-2812  2800 watt under the center of the port settee on my year 2000 Hylas 46 #31.  I've never had any problem with it.  It must have been a good model because they are still selling them.  One of the reasons I selected the Magnum was that it was one of the lowest profile inverter/chargers I could find so it fit nicely in that spot.  Pay attention to recommended clearances around your inverter.  I'm a little short on top so the tip access board gets warm.  In 2018 I put in a couple of USB fans with a thermostat control that I got on Amazon on each end of the cabinet.  They required cutting holes in each side of the cabinet, but were easy to install.  They cost less than $50.  Their still running with no problems and the cabinet says cool.

My inverter is located under the port side seat in the main cabin.  There is enough room to fit it under the seat just ahead of the isolation transformer.  And the cable runs are short to the electrical panel.

Hello!

I'm doing a refit on an early H46 and of course inverters are getting larger and larger. What creative place did you put you inverter? I'm finding maybe the only place I can put mine is in the master hanging locker. The inverter is too long to comfortable fit over the aft head holding tank but that is also an option with some creativity. Any idea are welcome!
