Brad,

That's at least simple!  Ideally I would like to avoid having anything protruding that can catch clothes etc. when going up and down the ladder.  I was trying to find a hasp that would screw into the threaded hole on the companionway slider.  If I come up with anything I'll share it.

Joel, we have a barrel bolt latch the engages into a hole on the bottom of the companionway sliding frame. Not at the boat right now so cannot attach a photo. Would like to improve on that if possible - would be interested in any other options.

I know several people have discussed this, but has anyone found an off  the shelf replacement roller?  A&H wants $150! 

Any simple designs to lock the companionway from inside the boat?
