Title: Sails Needed
Post by: NordicSunII on February 11, 2019, 07:30:10 AM
I'm looking for a new headsail and a main for a Hylas 44.  I don't have deep pockets.  Any suggestions on a sail makers that does good work at an inexpensive price?

Bacon Sails in Annapolis built my sails in tri-radial dacron for less than $4,000 each.  I'm very happy with them.

I had a 130% genoa built by Rolly Tasker sails in Thailand. I ordered it through National Sail Supply in Florida and am very happy with the shape and construction. There is now a distributor for Tasker in Annapolis, Annapolis Boat Service (who has told me the big name sailmakers are quite unhappy to have him around). I believe that Tasker makes sails for lots of the mainstream sailmakers in the US, who rebrand them. I suspect that Bacon Sails are made by Tasker but have not confirmed that. The sails are about 1/2 to 2/3 the price of sails from the big sailmakers.

Bacon uses Quantum’s loft.
